Sam Al-Hamdani
Sam lives in Lees with his wife and daughter. As a local councillor, he has worked hard working with local people and fellow councillors to help build stronger communities in the villages, so that people can get things done themselves.
In the ward, he has worked hard to deliver road safety solutions, pressuring the council into 20mph roads, and new safety measures, as well as working to deliver a school streets trial at Medlock Way.
He has also prioritised work for the environment, whether that is wildflower meadows, and improving the local walking routes, or protecting green spaces such as Stonebreaks and at Maltby Court, or across the borough, forcing the Council to commit to removing investment in fossil fuels through the pension fund, and driving forward tree-planting schemes.

Helen is an experienced councillor, both on the Parish and for the Borough. She has been at the heart of the community for many years, running youth services through the Satellite Centre in Greenfield.

During his time as a campaigner Garth led an award winning defibrillator campaign help secure a new secondary school, and initiated highway improvements,
He was involved in getting the 356 bus and has put many proposals to council from protecting trees to protecting children and the most vulnerable. Day to day things such street lights, hundreds of potholes and blocked drains fixed are part of his many actions as a councillor.
Mark Kenyon
Mark has lived all over Oldham, and for the last 8 years has loved living again in Saddleworth. For work, he started a business, then worked in IT and for the last 16 years has been helping people and construction companies with green energy & heating.
He’s raised two sons in Oldham, the eldest has just finished university, the youngest is a year into college and post-16 qualifications.
Mark is passionate about using our council’s spending as a force for change - favouring local business and jobs with the millions of pounds spent by our council would transform our town. Mark is also committed to fighting for:
- Road safety measures at key traffic hotspots;
- Protecting our green spaces, like Maltby Court and Stonebreaks, and stop the green belt land grab;
- Get more police on local streets to make people safer and more secure.
Dave Murphy
I was first elected in Crompton in 2014. We have to fight incredibly to get Shaw and Crompton noticed on Oldham Council, but time and again it is only the Liberal Democrats who challenge Labour on their wasteful budgets and spending plans.
Our residents’ biggest complaint is the state of footways and highways, as well as parking. I am always out reporting potholes, surface erosion, uneven footways and inconsiderate parking. That's I am always out and about talking to residents, and getting these things reported.
Diane Williamson
Diane lives in the heart of Shaw and Crompton. Being a local Councillor is a privilege because you get to help people in so many different ways.
In High Crompton, Shaw and Royton, Diane has walked down every single path – apart from some of the outbacks – to deliver the Focus newsletter.
Diane has worked alongside her two ward colleagues to make the new Health Centre become a reality, continues to support the Shaw and Crompton Events Group, as well as the other community groups.
She will not stop working hard all year round for the local residents of Crompton ward.
