Following more complaints from Shaw residents, demolition works at the former Yodel site on Beal Lane in Shaw Liberal Democrat councillor Howard Sykes MBE taken up the case again with Environmental Health Officers.  But council staff have not taken the concerns seriously, taken weeks to respond and effectively dismissed the complaint.

Councillor Sykes said, “I constantly receive complaints about the state of the work being done on the former Yodel site.  The dust and the mess caused by the works and vehicles has been a problem for months now.  But when I referred this to the council Environmental Health Team, the issue has just been dismissed after an officer visited on a day where no work was taking place and also visited the wrong part of the site on Linney Lane.”

“It’s very clear that the measures the developer agreed to at the start of the project – like damping to prevent dust and effective street sweeping – are not being enforced.  I’m absolutely disgusted by the lack of regard and lack of action being shown to Shaw residents.”
